- "Leave one wolf alive, and the sheep are never safe."
- ―Arya while disguised as Walder Frey.
Princess Arya Stark is a member of House Stark, a princess of the Second and Third kingdoms of the North, and a trainee for the Faceless Men. The third child and second daughter of Eddard and Catelyn Stark, Arya strayed from what was considered the staple of a female's role in society, and displayed tomboyish behaviour, as well as a profound interest in soldiery. She trained to use her sword with the First Sea Lord of Braavos, but was forced to flee when her father's attempt to cease Joffrey's ascent failed. She escaped King's Landing on a van heading for the Wall, but was captured and taken to Harrenhal, where she served as cupbearer to Lord Tywin. She eventually escaped, where she briefly rode with the Brotherhood Without Banners, before being abducted by Sandor Clegane to be taken as ransom to King Robb. After the Red Wedding, she remained with the Hound until he was defeated by Brienne of Tarth/a group of Clegane men. She finally found her way across the Narrow Sea to Braavos, where she signed up to train to become a Faceless Man. In the books, she is still training. In the show, she chose to retain her identity, killing the Waif, and returning to Westeros, where she avenged the Red Wedding by wiping out the entirety of House Frey. She now rides south with the intent of assassinating Queen Cersei Lannister.
