"There are no men like me. Only me."
―Jaime to Catelyn Stark.

Ser Jaime Lannister is a member of House Lannister, the former heir of Casterly Rock, a member of the Kingsguard, the Lord Commander of the Kingsguard and, late in his life (in the show), supreme commander of the military forces of House Lannister. Firstborn son of Tywin and Joanna Lannister, Jaime engaged in an incestuous relationship with his sister, Cersei, doing so in secrecy. Jaime was knighted by Ser Arthur Dayne after helping defeat the Kingswood Brotherhood, and later became a member of the Kingsguard when Tywin tried to marry him to Lysa Tully. He served under Aerys II, where he infamously killed his king to stop him from destroying the city with wildfire, earning him the nickname Kingslayer. He became Lord Commander when Barristan the Bold was dismissed following Joffrey's ascension to the throne, although at the time he had led a Lannister army against Riverrun, and was defeated and captured. Catelyn tried to have Jaime handed over to the Lannisters in exchange for her daughters, but was intercepted by men of House Bolton, who then chopped off his sword hand. He eventually arrived at King's Landing, reclaiming his place in King's Landing. In the show, Ser Jaime led a mission to Dorne to rescue Myrcella, which ended in failure, and when was later removed from the Kingsguard by King Tommen. He now served as the chief general of Cersei Lannister. In the books, he accompanies Brienne of Tarth to find Sansa Stark.
