"We've had vicious kings and we've had idiot kings, but I don't know if we've ever been cursed with a vicious idiot for a king."
Tyrion to Joffrey during the Riot of King's Landing.

King Joffrey I Baratheon (formal: King Joffrey of the House Baratheon, First of His Name), known pre-coronation as Joffrey Baratheon, was the head of House Baratheon of King's Landing and the Lord of the Seven Kingdoms. Joffrey became king of the Seven Kingdoms when his "father" died in a boar hunt, where he crushed Eddard Stark's attempts to hand over the throne to Stannis Baratheon, later having him executed. His orders infamously led to the riot of King's Landing, and he fled back to the Red Keep during the Battle of the Blackwater, although was quick to place himself as a hero. He celebrated the Red Wedding, and was betrothed to wed Margaery Tyrell not long afterwards. Ironically, he was poisoned by the Tyrells at his own wedding, although in his last moments, he made sure Tyrion got the blame for it.
