"He inspires no love or loyalty. He's not a king. I am."
―Renly to Eddard Stark about Stannis Baratheon.

King Renly I Baratheon (formal: Renly of the House Baratheon, First of His Name), known pre-coronation as Renly Baratheon, was the head of House Baratheon of Storm's End, former Master of Laws to Robert Baratheon, Lord of Storm's End, Lord Paramount of the Stormlands, claimant to Lord of the Seven Kingdoms, and King in the South. Renly was the youngest of the three sons of Steffon Baratheon, and was six-years-old when Robert's Rebellion broke out, and was present with his brother, Stannis, during the Siege of Storm's End: following the war, Robert gave Storm's End to Renly, instead of Stannis. Renly later became Master of Laws to Robert, where he, at some point, developed a homosexual relationship with Ser Loras Tyrell. He fled to Highgarden with Loras and fifty retainers before Eddard's failed coup attempt, where he was crowned King in the South. Just before war could break out between Renly's Baratheons and Stannis', and before he could join forces with Robb Stark, Renly was assassinated by a shadow creature in the shape of Stannis, and half of his forces, in turn, joined Stannis for the Battle of the Blackwater
